Henry "Junjo" Lawes

  • Nasceu em Kingston - Jamaica, começou mesmo por cantar, mas o sucesso sorriu-lhe como Produtor, o primeiro sucesso como Produtor surgiu em 1979 ,"Shine Eye Girl" foi a canção que esteve várias semanas em número 1 nos Tops Jamaicanos através do jovem Barrington Levy. Com todo o sucesso desta canção é gravado o Albúm de Barrington Levy "Bounty Hunter". Estavam lançados os primeiros dados para os anos seguintes, anos recheados de Hit. Com a cooperação de um jovem Engenheiro de Som - Hopeton Brown conhecido como "Scientist" e aquela que ainda hoje é considerada uma das melhores Bandas de sempre da História da Música Reggae - The Roots Radics, Henry "Junjo" Lawes tinha todas as condições para criar grandes canções. Lançou novos valores como Eek-a-Mouse, Johnny Osbourne, Michael Prophet, John Holt, Frankie Paul, (Pass the Tusheng Peng - Que Canção !!!!), e sem esqueçer um dos meus favoritos, Cocoa Tea, estabeleceu ainda Deejays como Josey wales,Charlie Chaplin, Peter Metro, Nicodemus, Papa Michigan e General Smiley,etc, abrindo-lhes as portas para a era Dancehall que nos anos seguintes viria a dominar todo o panorama da Música Jamaicana. De entre todos os Deejays que referi, há um em especial que não poderia deixar de frisar neste Tributo - Yellowman (o artista Amarelo- Albino). De todos os Deejays, foi o que conseguiu através das Produções de "Junjo" Lawes reconhecimento Internacional. Entre 1981 e 1984 Yellowman dominou todas as paradas dancehall com os ritmos fortes construídos pelos Roots Radics. Muito mais haveria para escrever acerca desta figura, mas em traços gerais espero que passe esta mensagem :

    Henry "Junjo" Lawes foi assassinado no dia 13 de Junho de 1999 na Inglaterra, segundo a Polícia sem nenhum motivo aparente.....
